NCIS: Hawai'i, we hardly knew you. The spinoff was praised by fans and critics for its varied cast and exciting locale, but it was not enough to stick around. The show was canceled after three seasons. It was a surprise to many, given how long other NCIS shows have been on the air.

Despite the cancelation, NCIS: Hawai'i remains a beloved piece of the NCIS franchise. So beloved, in fact, that it won a recent poll shared by series star Vanessa Lachey. The actress posted a survey from the U.S. Mirror in which fans were urged to select their favorite NCIS title. Overwhelmingly, the winner of the survey was Hawai'i.

Vanessa Lachey claimed Hawai'i fans are the "best'

NCIS: Hawai'i clocked in at 63%, while NCIS: Los Angeles came in second with 28% and NCIS: New Orleans brought up the rear with 8%. Lachey was overwhelmed by the support that fans continue to give the show. She took to Instagram Stories to thank them, writing:

"BEST fans in the WORLD!!! I ❤️ U!"

Lachey has been transparent about how much NCIS: Hawai'i has meant to her and her career. She gave fans a very genuine reaction via social media when news of the cancelation was confirmed in April 2024.

"Gutted, confused, blindsided," the actress wrote. "Grateful, confident, beloved fans. Processing this news and still being present with my family. I love you all! Maholo Nui Loa." Lachey processed, and she went on to pen a far more detailed reflection on the show's cancelation via Instagram on May 1.

The actress lamented the show's cancelation in April

"Wish we had more time, I’m sorry we don’t," Lachey wrote. "I wish we had a proper good-bye, I’m sorry we didn’t. I know we ALL are connected deeper than any TV show. I will go to the ends of the earth for my cast & crew."

Several of the actress' cast mates were similarly disappointed by the cancelation. They lamented the fact that the most diverse show in the NCIS franchise was the one that got axed. Hawai'i was similarly praised for being the only title in the franchise to feature a female lead.

Lachey's character, Jane Tennant, was featured prominently in a 2023 NCIS crossover, and the general hope among fans is that she will return for a cameo whenever the franchise decides to promote another crossover event.
