It’s already time for the NCIS shows to return, despite production being briefly postponed due to the ongoing fires in Los Angeles. With NCIS: Origins set to return at the end of the month, what can we expect when young Leroy Jethro Gibbs returns to the screen?

NCIS: Origins films on the Paramount Studio Lot, but production was paused in the midst of the wildfires occurring in the Palisades and Altadena areas in the city. After a short break, production was back on with Security, Health, and Safety approving their return while also keeping an eye on how production would commence.

The series is one of many that returned to work, but they will be working inside the studio rather than outside due to air quality. Not much is known about how long this will last, especially since first responders are still working on containing the fires currently ongoing.

What can fans expect when NCIS: Origins returns?

Blue Bayou

Once the show returns, we will see more of Gibbs and how he continues to grow at work, especially now that his coworker, Lala Dominguez, knows about him killing the man who murdered his family. So what will things look like for the show when it returns?

While the synopsis for “Flight of Icarus” does not give us much to work with, it does note that the team will investigate what happened a Marine commander’s son. Plus, there will be more about Mike Franks that the audience will learn, as he is also battling a personal mission when it comes to finding out who assaulted his girlfriend. Whether or not the two are related is unknown, but we do love getting to know more about the younger version of Gibbs’s mentor.

NCIS: Origins will return on January 27

Sick as Our Secrets
“Sick as Our Secrets” – Gibbs and the team investigate the case of a Navy priest who was killed in the confessional booth and may have been targeted by mistake. It also appears based on a hint at the end of the midseason finale that the arc involving Jamison “Bugs” Boyd is far from over. We saw snippets of some shredded documents that appeared to mention he had a partner at some point he worked with as a sniper.

In an interview with TVLine, producer and co-showrunner David J. North teased the team would be looking into finding out who this person is once they figure out there is someone else they need to apprehend.

The airdate for NCIS: Origins is set for Monday, Jan. 27 at 10/9c. We will keep you updated if there are any changes to the schedule, but so far it looks like we will have the show back in a matter of days.
