NCIS briefly paused production amid the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires before getting back to work on the second half of season 22. With new episodes on the horizon, when can we expect new episodes to air and what is on the docket for the team?
While Los Angeles experienced ongoing wildfires in the Palisades and Altadena areas, television and other filming paused production while evacuations were occuring. Now with filming back in production, this means we will soon have content featuring the CBS show, although episodes may look different considering how filming will commence.
When is the next new episode of NCIS season 22 airing?
As per Deadline, NCIS films in Santa Clarita and was cleared to go back to production by Security, Health, and Safety. Filming will take place entirely indoors to protect actors and crew from the smoke due to the ongoing wildfires. We don't know what this will mean for outdoor filming, but there could be workarounds depending on what they can film for the episodes that are still needed for the remainder of the season.
So far, we do know that the series is due to return on Monday, Jan. 27 at 9/8 on CBS. The next episode will feature actress Melina Kanakaredes working alongside Agent Alden Parker’s Gary Cole.
According to the synopsis, the episode, titled “Baker’s Man,” will follow the team in their attempts to figure out who is blackmailing the owner of Parker’s go-to bakery. This is the same bakery he is often seen bringing treats from, so we’re looking forward to discovering the baker behind the sweets. Although we hope that eventually things will work out for her as we learn about who this new character is.
Torres will play a crucial role in the winter premiere
Another storyline teased in the synopsis will involve the new relationship Agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) is in. At the end of the midseason finale, Torres was seen texting someone with plans for Christmas, leaving viewers in suspense! Now, it appears we will meet this new love interest, where tensions will rise. Could this mean whoever they are is involved with another character in some way?
Even though Agent Tim McGee’s (Sean Murray) arc involving his suspicions about the new Deputy Director Gabriel Laroche is not mentioned in the synopsis for the episode, that will also be a storyline to look forward to once episodes commence airing.
One Chicago Center will keep you updated on all things NCIS as we learn more about filming and new episodes before the end of the season. Before the show returns, you can catch previous episodes on Paramount+.
