Will Trent and The Rookie are ABC staples. These procedural dramas are riding high on the heels of recent season renewals, and they will be treating fans to brand new episodes on Tuesday, April 29. It may be confusing to those, however, who turn on the TV to watch the shows during their usual time slot. Things are going to be a little different tonight.
On Tuesday morning, ABC announced that it would airing a special primetime interview with President Donald Trump in honor of his first 100 days in office. The special will be subtitled The Interview in the Oval Office, and be conducted by ABC News Senior national correspondent Terry Moran.
Will Trent and The Rookie will air an hour late

What does this mean for Will Trent and The Rookie, which normally hold down ABC's primetime slots on Tuesday? Well, it means both shows will wind up airing an hour later. Will Trent, which normally airs at 8 pm ET, will premiere its latest episode at 9 pm ET instead. The same goes for The Rookie, which will move from 9 pm ET to 10 pm ET.
This is a huge relief, given the dramatic arcs both shows currently find themselves in. Detective Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen) has been put through the emotional ringer in season 3, between having to contend with her former abuser and breaking up with the titular characters. To make matters even worse, Angie's mother died in the episode “The Most Beautiful, Fierce, Smart, Powerful Creature in the Whole World."
Unsurprisingly, Tuesday's episode, "Push, Jump, Fall," will deal with the fallout of these harrowing experiences. Will (Ramon Rodriguez) and Faith (Iantha Richardson) will aim to clear a woman's name after she's dragged into a case involving an illegal drug ring, but Angie will "spiral after a traumatic" event occurs in her life. We can only assume that this is in reference to her mom's passing, and the poor detective hasn't befallen yet another misfortune.
Both shows will resume normal time slots May 6

The Rookie, meanwhile, will contend with the return of Seth (Patrick Keleher). Seth was brought into the mix earlier in season 7 as the rookie for Lucy (Melissa O’Neil), but he was caught lying about his own cancer diagnosis and kicked from the team. Inexplicably, he has returned, and Lucy is less than thrilled.
The actor who plays Seth, Keleher, told TheWrap that the rookie is determined to make up for his mistakes last time, even if everybody else is hesitant to give him the benefit of the doubt. "It’s just something that, from a very young age, he felt like he needed to. He needed it," the actor claimed.
Will Trent and The Rookie will return to their usual Tuesday night time slots May 6 on ABC.
