What happened this week in One Chicago history? Here are the moments from Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med past in the week of Jan. 1-7.

While we enjoy the current week in One Chicago, we’re also looking back into what happened this week in One Chicago history.

These are the important dates in Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago PD and Chicago Justice past that you might remember. And if you don’t, we’ve got a refresher.

The first week of the year is traditionally also the first week of the second half of the One Chicago season, so we have lots of episode history to report, as well as a few Chicago PD birthdays.

Here’s what happened in One Chicago history this week:

More from One Chicago Center

January 1: Chicago PD star Amy Morton celebrates a birthday.

Today isn’t just New Year’s Day; it’s also the birthday of Chicago PD fan favorite Amy Morton, who plays the no-nonsense Sergeant Trudy Platt.

Morton has made Platt one of our fandom’s biggest personalities, from her not taking any crap at the District, to her crossover marriage to Chicago Fire‘s Randall “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte), to her unique way of interacting with people.

Let’s not forget that Morton is also one of the elite actresses of the Chicago stage, as she’s one of just two performers in One Chicago with a Tony Award nomination. (She has two, in fact.) Happy birthday to one of the veteran performers who makes our fandom so great!

January 2, 2013: The Chicago Fire season 1 episode “God Has Spoken” airs.

Casey’s family came to town in the eleventh episode of Chicago Fire, giving him a massive headache while his mother and sister got into a fight with him trapped in the middle. We also watched Leslie Shay (Lauren German) recover from her injuries suffered in the ambulance wreck from earlier in the season. We’re not sure which plotline was more painful.

January 3, 2017: The Chicago Fire season 5 episode “Some Make It, Some Don’t” and the Chicago PD season 4 episode “Don’t Bury This Case” both air.

This week last year, One Chicago kicked off the year with a crossover through back to back episodes of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD. After Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) got bad news about his planned bone marrow donation for future girlfriend Anna Turner (Charlotte Sullivan), his car was found at the scene of a vicious accident and the Intelligence Unit was forced to look at him as a vehicular homicide suspect.

Plus, this was where we were reminded that Severide and Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) had dated for a few seconds. But it was Lindsay who was there for Severide throughout, including when he was finally freed from custody.

January 4, 2017: The Chicago PD season 4 episode “Don’t Read The News” airs.

NBC followed up the crossover event with a second episode of Chicago PD in the show’s regular time slot. Here’s where Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) began to shine, helping make the case as the team investigated what turned out to be a serial killer. It’s also the first episode where we met Kenny Rixton (recurring guest star Nick Wechsler).

January 5: Chicago PD recurring guest star America Olivo celebrates a birthday.

When we first met Antonio Dawson, he was happily married to his wife Laura, played by actress America Olivo, who celebrates her birthday this week. However, their marriage went down in a hurry thanks to Antonio’s work, including the abduction of their son early in the series.

Since then, things have soured between the two ex-spouses; the last time we saw Laura, she was giving grief to Antonio’s girlfriend Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), which then led to Brett and Antonio breaking up. We’ll have to see if Laura returns now that her father-in-law is fighting for his life on Chicago Fire.

January 5, 2016: The Chicago Fire season 4 episode “The Beating Heart” and the Chicago Med season 1 episode “Malignant” both air.

With Chicago Med having arrived, it was time for a three-show crossover this time two years ago, picking up from the stabbing of Chicago Fire‘s Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg). When it didn’t look good for Herrmann, our firefighters asked if Med‘s Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) had made a mistake in treating him, causing tension in the hospital. But the real smackdown was going to come the next night.

January 6, 2016: The Chicago PD season 3 episode “Now I’m God” airs.

Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) reached out to the Intelligence Unit about several suspicious deaths that he’d uncovered in the previous Med episode, but that turned out to be a risky move, since the prime suspect had also treated Hank Voight’s (Jason Beghe) wife before her death. It was gloves-off time for Voight, who did what he had to do, in order to ensure that the deadly doctor wound up behind bars.

January 6, 2015: The Chicago Fire season 3 episode “Let Him Die” airs.

This really wasn’t a good week in One Chicago history for paramedics. Three years ago, Shay’s replacement Brett and Peter Mills (Charlie Barnett) were abducted from a call, and it was up to Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) to save her partner and her ex-boyfriend.

January 7, 2014: The Chicago Fire season 2 episode “Shoved In My Face” airs.

Four years ago, with Dawson otherwise indisposed, Shay was riding in the ambulance with Allison Rafferty (recurring guest star Christine Evangelista), but the ride was rough once Rafferty made clear she didn’t like Shay’s choice of lifestyle. Shay, naturally, made Rafferty regret those words. Christine Evangelista has gone on to star in the E! series The Arrangement, which will return for its second season later this year.

January 7, 2015: The Chicago PD season 2 episode “Shouldn’t Have Been Alone” airs.

Three years ago, Burgess was recovering from being shot, thanks to going into a building on her own while her partner and love interest Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) was arguing with his own ex-girlfriend. Awkward all around, but as usual in One Chicago, the Chicago PD gang rallied to make sure the person who hurt one of their own was brought to justice. And well, we know that Burgess and Roman didn’t last, as Roman himself was shot two seasons later and eventually left Chicago entirely.
