Chicago Fire season 6, episode 8 preview: The Whole Point of Being Roommates
Will Chicago Fire’s Brettonio reunion last? How will Dawson react? Look ahead to tonight’s episode with our Chicago Fire season 6, episode 8 preview.
Thursday’s Chicago Fire episode is a big one for Sylvie Brett both on and off the job, but should we be getting our hopes up?
The focal point of “The Whole Point of Being Roommates” is that Brett (Kara Killmer) has hooked back up with Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda).
The entire promo for this episode is focused on Brettonio, which is a good thing for all of the fans who’ve been waiting for their Chicago Fire season 6 reunion. To a point.
Because everyone knew once Antonio showed up on Brett’s doorstep, that they were not going to be just a “one-time thing.” But that doesn’t mean that they’re going to stick together.

They’re certainly sleeping together again, but neither of them (particularly not Brett) seems to be looking for more than that this time around.
And more importantly, we know how relationships in the One Chicago fandom can get messed with for dramatic effect (case in point: Brettonio last season, or Linstead on Chicago PD).
So while it’s great that they’ve found their way back to each other, we’d caution Brettonio fans not to get their hopes up until we’re sure that it’s going to stick this time, and Chicago Fire isn’t going to come up with some other reason to keep them apart.
On top of that, are we going to get the hilariously awkward moment where Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) finds out that her brother is back in bed with her partner? Because she will find out, the question is when. Brett doesn’t exactly have the best poker face, and if she rambles about Antonio as much as she did last week, Dawson will find out in five seconds.
But Chicago Fire also needs to resolve Dawson’s much bigger problem: Bria (Quinn Cooke), the girl that she rescued from a burning clinic last week.
It’s not a surprise that Dawson has become attached to the girl; she’s done that before with a few other people she’s helped over the years. But how far will she go to help Bria when she discovers the girl has a terrible family situation? And let’s not forget, this is a character who was so close to becoming a mother last season; could she wind up looking at Bria as a sort of surrogate daughter? (Or even just a way to restart the conversation about starting a family of her own?)

The best part of Thursday’s episode may be that the Bria plotline allows for some more scenes with Dawson and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney). In general, we need more of those, but Severide can be a sounding board for Dawson, and he’ll get a storyline that’s not about who he’s in bed with or might be in bed with. That seems like a win-win, and a rewarding time for Chicago Fire fans as well.
