One Chicago ratings report: Week of January 9
By John Cave
How did Chicago Fire season 6, Chicago PD season 5 and Chicago Med season 3 fare in the ratings this week? Find out in the One Chicago Ratings Report.
Another week in the One Chicago season has gone by, so it’s time for another edition of the One Chicago Ratings Report.
This is the second week since the three One Chicago shows returned from winter hiatus, so were they able to hold onto, or even build upon, the numbers of their midseason premieres?
Some shows got better news than others.
Tuesday’s Chicago Med episode “Ties That Bind” was watched by 6.93 million live viewers. That’s up just slightly from last week‘s 6.91 million, which was already higher than the season average.

Chicago Med held strong as the sixth most-watched broadcast TV show on Tuesday, for the second week in a row.
It did drop amongst adults 18-49, with its 1.2 share good for fourth place in that category (down one spot from third last week). That’s because its NBC lead-in This Is Us took the third spot, so it’s not a huge loss and may have even helped bring those extra viewers to Med.
In the Tuesday 10 p.m. time slot, Med is closing the gap on CBS‘s NCIS: New Orleans.
The latter is still the top broadcast draw by a wide margin (8.60 million viewers) but Chicago Med has the wide advantage when it comes to attracting adults 18-49 (fourth place versus tied for seventh).

On Wednesday, the Chicago PD episode “Confidential” pulled in 6.844 million live eyeballs. It’s a 0.10 increase from that show’s midseason premiere.
In the big picture, PD also jumped up one spot to become the second most-watched broadcast program on Wednesday night, behind only CBS’s The Amazing Race.
It also improved from seventh amongst adults 18-49 to tied for fifth with its lead-in, Dick Wolf‘s Law & Order: SVU. So this was a pretty good week for the Intelligence Unit, as well. Keep reading after the jump to see if Firehouse 51 had the same luck.
Thursday’s Chicago Fire episode “The Whole Point of Being Roommates” didn’t have the same success as the other two One Chicago series. It was the only show to lose viewers this week.
The episode’s 5.23 million live audience members was down sharply from last week’s 5.90, for a loss of 670,000 viewers.
It was seventh overall on Thursday night and tied for eleventh place between adults 18-49 with FOX‘s reality series The Four: Battle for Stardom.
Fire is now more than a million eyeballs off its season average. But if you’re looking for a silver lining, it’s still the strongest show that NBC has on Thursday nights, which are otherwise full of comedies (which could contribute to the drop).
Next: What did we learn from this week's Chicago Fire?
It’s definitely starting to get concerning that Chicago Fire isn’t doing as well as Med or PD, but the fact that it’s still NBC’s best Thursday show and is also dealing with entirely different lead-ins has to be considered. Hopefully Fire will gain some steam in the next few weeks.
