Will Chicago Med’s doctors conquer their problems this week? Look ahead to tonight’s episode with our Chicago Med season 3, episode 7 preview.

Tonight’s Chicago Med episode could be a turning point for several characters, and that’s good, because a few of them really need it.

Season 3, Episode 7 is called “Over Troubled Water” and the focus appears to be on Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling) and Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo).

Ava gets a bigger share of the spotlight when she leaves the hospital alongside Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) to treat patients in the field.

The last time Connor worked outside of the hospital, it provided us a great episode with a chance to learn more about Dr. Isidore Latham (Ato Essandoh), so will this episode do the same with the character of Ava?

It’d certainly be helpful, because Chicago Med season 3 hasn’t showed us much about the show’s new addition aside from the way she continues to badger Connor.

We need a reason to care about her individually and to see what the writers saw when they decided to make her a series regular. There’s so much more to do with her than just have the two of them bicker, and this could be the episode where that comes to the forefront.

“Over Troubled Water” should also be a significant outing for Dr. Reese. We know from NBC‘s official description of the episode that Chicago Med is skipping over Reese’s suspension, so she will be in this episode and be back at work.

But what consequences will she face for pepper spraying a patient?

On one hand, Reese clearly stepped over a line and put the hospital at risk when she used force on a patient. On the other, the show also gave her a virtual pass by saying that her macing him led to finding out what his problem was.

Yet if everyone hasn’t noticed that there’s a major problem with Reese by now, then they’re not paying attention. It’s time for people like Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) and Noah Sexton (Roland Buck III) to step in and make her feel safe again.

Plus, will Reese be allowed anywhere near patients for awhile? And even if she is, will she want to be there? Chicago Med‘s put her in quite the predicament, but we’re seven episodes on now, she’s got to start getting out of it. Both she and Ava could make great strides this week, and let’s hope that they do.
