Will Chicago Fire drive another wedge between Stella and Brett? Look ahead to tonight’s episode with our Chicago Fire season 6, episode 9 preview.

Everyone’s looking for something in tonight’s Chicago Fire, but some people might be better off not finding it.

Season 6, Episode 9 is called “Fair Is Foul,” and it has several characters engaged in searches for someone or something.

Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) are still looking for missing teen Bria (guest star Quinn Cooke), after Bria vanished from Chicago Med in the end of last week’s episode.

Hopefully Dawson will find her, if for no other reason than Bria’s father doesn’t need the added stress of finding out his daughter’s missing. And if anyone can find her, it’s Dawson.

But we can’t help but think back to Chicago Med season 2, when Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) tried to help another teenager named Danny and then he went missing, and Danny ultimately ended up dead.

We don’t want to see another story like that. And we especially don’t want to see it for Dawson, who has already compared Bria to her foster son Louie, whom she’s still hurting over having given up last season. She doesn’t deserve more of that this season.

While Severide’s away helping Dawson, Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) is continuing to look for love with other people. This week it’s Zach, a Hazmat officer played by Daniel Di Tomasso.

But Stella isn’t the only one interested in him: so is Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), who’s back on the market after she spurned Dawson’s brother Antonio (Jon Seda) last week.

When you think about it, Chicago Fire season 6 hasn’t been great for Stella and Brett. The two are not at each other’s throats or anything, but they had tension between them over the whole Hope debacle, and now the show has them competing over a man. So how much friction will develop in this episode? Will it just pile onto what we saw at the start of the season?

Hopefully not, because there’s no real reason for them to be frustrated with each other—it wasn’t Brett’s fault Hope did what she did, and fighting over a guy feels a little high school-ish. But if the show is trying to stir up drama inside Firehouse 51, it’s certainly going to do it with the subplot in this episode.

But really, when compared to the hunt for a missing teenager who could be anywhere and could be in serious trouble, doesn’t competing for a love interest pale in comparison?
