How did Chicago Fire season 6, Chicago PD season 5 and Chicago Med season 3 fare in the ratings this week? Find out in the One Chicago Ratings Report.

Another week in the One Chicago season has gone by, so it’s time for another edition of the One Chicago Ratings Report.

We’re now into week three of the second portion of the season, and this week had big things taking place on all three One Chicago shows.

So did the TV ratings reflect the size of the episodes? And could Chicago Fire get itself out of its recent ratings plunge?

Let’s take a look.

More from One Chicago Center

Tuesday’s Chicago Med episode “Over Troubled Water” posted 7.88 million live viewers. That’s up almost a million additional eyeballs from last week‘s 6.83 million, and marks the second week in a row that Med has grown its audience.

In terms of statistics, Chicago Med was up one place overall to become the fifth most-watched series on broadcast TV on Jan. 16.

It grew its share amongst adults 18-49 from 1.2 to 1.5, which was also good to raise its ranking from fourth place to third in that coveted advertising demographic.

Med won the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour for NBC, with a more than two million eyeball advantage over CBS‘s Bull, which had 5.82 million live viewers.

On Wednesday evening, all three of NBC’s dramas are holding in the 6 million range, including our own Chicago PD. The new episode “Captive” drew in 6.63 million watchers, which was down a bit from last week’s number of 6.84 (roughly a loss of 210,000 people).

While that caused PD to slip from the second to the third most-seen broadcast show on Jan. 17, it held its fifth-place spot amongst 18-49’s in another tie with Dick Wolf‘s Law & Order: SVU.

It’s still NBC’s most popular program on Wednesdays, though The Blacklist is gaining with 6.52 million people tuned in this week. Keep reading after the jump for the numbers on this week’s new episode of Chicago Fire.

Things haven’t looked as rosy for Chicago Fire as they have for the other two shows in 2018. This week, though, the show received its first ratings increase in a little while.

“Foul Is Fair” brought in 5.65 million viewers, which was slightly up from the previous week’s 5.23 million (perhaps because the previous episode ended on a cliffhanger that this episode teased the resolution to).

Fire didn’t gain any ground overall, though, still listed as the seventh most popular program in the Thursday night standings. It did improve amongst adults 18-49 from eleventh place to ninth place and is still NBC’s best show on a night otherwise populated by comedies.

The show is still drawing a smaller live audience than CBS’s SWAT, which brought in 5.99 viewers this week, and most importantly is still the lowest-rated of the three One Chicago programs. But with only a 340,000 gap to close, perhaps it will eventually take the Thursday 10 p.m. title?

It’s another week with two of the three One Chicago series posting gains in the ratings, though it’s worth still keeping an eye on Chicago Fire to see if it can pick up some viewers to get itself more in line with Chicago Med and Chicago PD. But overall, there’s plenty of reasons to be happy with this week’s TV ratings.
