Is Chicago PD’s Hank Voight in serious trouble? Should Antonio Dawson have known better? Here are our Chicago PD season 5, episode 11 takeaways.

Wednesday’s Chicago PD put two main characters in hot water, so how difficult will things get after this episode? We discuss that and more in this week’s takeaways.

Season 5, Episode 11 and was called “Chasing Monsters.” While Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) was on notice after the body of his son’s killer was located, Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) had a fling with a visiting detective and wound up being played in a revenge scheme.

If you missed any of this Chicago PD episode, or just want a refresher on the events that we’re discussing, you can catch up with our “Chasing Monsters” recap.

Here are our Chicago PD season 5, episode 13 takeaways:

More from One Chicago Center

1) Will an old decision be Voight’s undoing?

It was only a matter of time until Denny Woods (guest star Mykelti Williamson) found something to try and hang Voight with; otherwise there’d be no dramatic tension anymore, and with everything fans know Voight has done, it’d be weird if he didn’t find anything.

But we didn’t expect that the something would come from Chicago PD‘s past. Bringing up the murder of Justin Voight, and the fact that Voight made sure his killer was very dead, was a bit of a surprise. Most shows wouldn’t go that far backward, if only because it kind of requires viewers to have that past familiarity with the series to understand why it’s so important.

It does have a sort of appropriate feeling to it, though, if Voight ultimately goes down (or almost goes down; we do need him!) for something that’s not business, but personal. Plus, audiences got a mention of Erin Lindsay out of it!

2) Antonio and Brett obviously need each other

Whether you’re a Brettonio shipper or not, can we admit that they need to get back together, as they both seem to be totally clueless apart?

As much as One Chicago has teased us with them getting together, breaking up, reuniting and then breaking up again, neither show seems to know how to write them on their own right now. Over on Chicago Fire, we had Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) nearly falling over herself to catch the eye of a Hazmat officer because she thought she needed it.

Then in this episode of Chicago PD, we have Antonio going to bed with a woman even though he’s only known her for a few days because he apparently sympathizes with her as a fellow divorcee. We think. But whatever the reason, he didn’t wait long either. Since they’ve been apart it’s all been a bit of a mess, so maybe Brettonio is better together.

3) Kim Burgess is catching on pretty quick

This week’s round of applause goes to Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), who was the person who first realized something was up in this episode and didn’t let it go. And she kept trying to look out for her partner and to help him see the truth, even though he didn’t want to. Chicago PD season 5 is Burgess’s first full season in Intelligence, but she’s already acting like she’s been upstairs for a lot longer. It’s great to see her so sharp especially knowing she’ll only get better.
