Two years ago, Chicago Fire introduced fans to Stella Kidd in Chicago Fire season 4, episode 15. Look back on the episode in our February Flashback.

With Chicago Fire taking most of February off for the Winter Olympics, we’re rolling back the clock and revisiting the Chicago Fire episodes that previously aired this month.

It was two years ago today that Chicago Fire premiered “Bad For The Soul” and this episode was the first appearance of Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo).

Though now it’s hard to imagine Stella not being at Firehouse 51, in this episode Miranda was still credited as a guest star; she wouldn’t be promoted to series regular until the next season.

Her arrival made some waves throughout the firehouse, though her arrival was not the major plot of the episode.

That would involve Stella’s future boyfriend/ex-boyfriend Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), as he and Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) questioned their call of the week. After 51 lent a helping hand to another house following an accident, Severide and Cruz weren’t so sure it was an accident.

And as Kelly Severide has proven time and again, he doesn’t let things drop especially when they involve someone’s welfare. So he and Cruz were determined to find out what had actually happened at the other firehouse.

Also in this episode, Chicago Fire wasted no time in throwing a wrench into Matthew Casey’s (Jesse Spencer) new political career. “Bad For The Soul” was the episode where Casey realized that politics is about a lot more than politics, and wound up in what wouldn’t be the first bad situation his Alderman duties put him in.

This was an episode that has only become more significant over the last two years. It might not have seemed so huge at the time, but this is the episode where we met one of our key characters and one could say it foreshadowed all of Casey’s issues in his side job. Just look at this clip from the episode:
