February flashback: Chicago Fire season 2, episode 14
Four years ago, Chicago Fire had a pair of celebrity guests in Chicago Fire season 2, episode 14. Look back on the episode in our February Flashback.
With Chicago Fire taking most of February off for the Winter Olympics, we’re rolling back the clock and revisiting the Chicago Fire episodes that previously aired this month.
It was four years ago today that Fire premiered the episode “Virgin Skin,” which got buzz for having two NHL stars make cameos, while everyone had other things to worry about.
NBC promoted this episode with the guest spots from two members of the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team, Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith.
The two NHL players would wind up at Molly’s having a drink with the team, thanks to their new friend Jeff Clarke (recurring guest star Jeff Hephner).

But while the celebrity guests got some of the hype, what One Chicago fans likely remember “Virgin Skin” for were the actual challenges in the episode.
Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) was still freaking out over the disappearance of his half-sister Katie Nolan (guest star Brittany Curran).
This was when we not only found Katie, but found out exactly what happened to her, setting both Severide and Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) from Chicago PD on the warpath. Katie would decide in this episode to move to Colorado, and she hasn’t been seen on the show since.
Elsewhere, Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) took her final test to become a firefighter, and it did not go well. Watch the moment again below:
While fans were sad for Dawson, she wasn’t the only one feeling the shakeup by the end of this Chicago Fire season 2 episode. “Virgin Skin” was the last appearance for Allison Rafferty (Christine Evangelista), and the first for Rebecca Jones (played by Daisy Betts, who’d go on to recur opposite future Chicago Justice star Philip Winchester in The Player).
So you could call this a week of musical chairs in and around Firehouse 51. Two characters left the show, another one was introduced, and Dawson tried but didn’t yet succeed in transitioning to her new role as a firefighter. That’s a lot to pack into one episode, making the NHL cameos look like an afterthought!
