Chicago PD season 5, episode 16 preview: The 100th episode
Chicago PD’s 100th episode is here, so what are we looking for? Look ahead to tonight’s episode with our Chicago PD season 5, episode 16 preview.
Congratulations to Chicago PD for reaching its 100th episode, which airs tonight. But the bar is set pretty high for this milestone.
Not only is it an important episode for this show, but it happens to be the first part of a crossover with Chicago Fire. And this crossover is the first One Chicago crossover event of the season.
So yeah, no pressure.
But it does make it really interesting when you try and figure out, what should we expect from this episode? With all these different things going on, how will Chicago PD season 5 keep it all straight and also deliver a great installment?

Wednesday’s episode is called “Profiles” and deals with someone who is setting off bombs across Chicago, targeting various members of the media. (Eep.) After last season’s “A Shot Heard Round The World” about a sniper shooting up Chicago, this feels in that same ballpark.
This won’t be an episode like Chicago Fire, where the 100th was also a celebration of the show; according to our interview with producers, this is more focused on the crossover than recognizing anything about PD.
Whether that’s good or bad, we’ll let you decide, but don’t expect any big speeches, sentimental moments or Sophia Bush cameos.

That doesn’t mean “Profiles” can’t still be a great episode. One Chicago crossovers are always huge, and one of the things fans might have forgotten is that Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas wrote for Chicago PD in several seasons, so he’s got experience with these characters.
Tonight’s episode will bring us some more Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) working with her brother Antonio (Jon Seda), which never fails to be worth watching. They have a great relationship so there’s a reason that they probably run into each other the most out of any characters across the franchise.
Plus, this would be must-see TV just for Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) in the same room. We’ve said before that One Chicago should put all of its boss figures in a room and let them talk, and we’re going to get that in “Profiles” even if it’s not a social call.
So there are opportunities for good things here, even if they’re not the things that we might’ve thought about. If nothing else, we’ll see a fun hour of entertainment in which things explode and a lot of good actors are involved. Maybe we’ll get the sentimental stuff in episode 101.
