Law and Order SVU season 19, episode 17 preview: Send In The Clowns
Can Peter Stone handle drama both in and out of the courtroom? Look ahead to tonight’s episode with our Law and Order SVU season 19, episode 17 preview.
This week’s episode of Law & Order: SVU could cause a huge headache for Peter Stone, and only partly because of the case he’s prosecuting.
Wednesday’s episode is called “Send In The Clowns,” and if you’re one of the many people who’s not a fan of clowns, you’re going to be uncomfortable. The episode’s criminal disguises himself in a clown mask.
That lends a whole other creepy angle to the proceedings, but once we get past that, what we’re interested in is how Stone (Philip Winchester) is going to handle the proverbial circus.
This is another slightly left of center case that our Assistant District Attorney is going to have to deal with. All the episodes he’s been part of this season haven’t quite been what we expected, and now to throw in an evil clown? This is likely as weird as it gets.

After all, if you’re here, you’re likely a One Chicago fan who remembers how Sylvie Brett (Kara KIllmer) freaked out when she ran into a mischievious clown on Chicago Fire. And that was just a guy being an idiot, not someone intentionally out to hurt people.
There could be some nonsense going on here. And we know that Peter Stone has no patience for any kind of nonsense.

The best part for SVU fans, though? That’s not all Stone has to deal with.
The synopsis for “Send In The Clowns” reveals that he’s getting a visit from a family member, and as his father Ben Stone is no longer with us, the most obvious answer is that we’re about to meet his sister—Ben’s daughter, who was mentioned but never seen on the original Law & Order. So we’re getting a big piece of Stone family canon!
And for those of us who are Law & Order nerds, that’s exciting.
Assuming it’s his sister, who is she? What does she want from Peter? Could it be something that’s tied to that mysterious thing in their father’s will that SVU season 19 still hasn’t told us about? Do these two even get along?
There are so many questions, and depending on the answers, we could get our biggest insight into Peter Stone’s history yet. The show has done a wonderful job of unraveling why this character has to be here, and this is the pivotal episode that could change everything, if this subplot is as big as it seems like it’ll be.
Maybe that will make up for the nightmares we’ll have about evil clowns.
