Chicago PD has Hank Voight witness a kidnapping this week. Look ahead to tonight’s episode with our Chicago PD season 5, episode 20 preview.

Hank Voight has a lot to worry about in this week’s Chicago PD. Not only does he have to deal with his Olinsky problem, but now he’s a witness to a crime.

Wednesday’s episode is called “Saved” and involves the abduction of a young woman with some tie to Voight’s (Jason Beghe) past. We don’t know what, or who she is, but she’s connected to our fearless leader.

Not only that, but according to NBC’s official description of this episode, Voight is there when she is taken—making him the best witness to the kidnapping.

So how will things change when Voight is a witness, and not just the boss?

More from One Chicago Center

We’ve seen One Chicago characters witness crimes before. The general premise of this episode is reminiscent of the Chicago Justice episode “Judge Not” in which Anna Valdez (Monica Barbaro) was the sole witness to the murder of a judge, then got cagey about her relationship with him.

But Hank Voight isn’t Anna Valdez. Hank Voight has a gun, and the authority to go out and do something with it.

Hank Voight also has a massive problem hanging over his head about something else from his past.

So this Chicago PD installment could be the perfect storm.

There are so many questions: Who is this woman? How is she connected to Voight? Will Voight be a terrible witness and/or further complicate the investigation?

While that’s going on, “Saved” will also continue the ongoing storyline that’s been winding through the whole season. After Olinsky (Elias Koteas) planted drugs last week to discredit the sole witness against him, he’ll learn that wasn’t enough—the State’s Attorney’s Office is calling for a grand jury anyway.

So, we have more questions: Will Voight find out what Olinsky did last week? If so, how will he react? What is the State’s Attorney planning with their best witness supposedly now useless to them? Clearly their case is down but not out.

With just three episodes left after this, it’s pretty obvious to see that we’re working toward this idea of someone on trial—whether it’s Olinsky or Voight or both. That could be a great place to end the season, dramatically speaking. But “Saved” will have to prove that there’s still a case to be had, in order for that to work.

After all, Voight can’t save everyone, can he?
