Chicago Fire season 6, episode 19 preview: Where I Want To Be
Is Chicago Fire exposing a criminal or writing out a character? Look ahead to tonight’s episode with our Chicago Fire season 6, episode 19 preview.
This week’s Chicago Fire is making One Chicago fans nervous with the idea that there’s a thief inside Firehouse 51, but could that be the show’s way of making a big change?
Thursday’s episode is called “Where I Want To Be” and the trouble starts when the crew gets called to a fire at a drug house, which happens to contain an awful lot of drug money.
After the money subsequently turns out to be missing, suspicion circulates that someone from Firehouse 51 must have stolen it, and the hunt is on to identify who committed the crime.
But did anyone commit the crime? And if so, who could it possibly be?

We know from this episode’s official description by NBC that the prime suspect is Jake Cordova (guest star Damon Dayoub).
This makes sense, because he’s the new guy and no one at Firehouse 51 really knows him—except for maybe Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund).
The audience definitely doesn’t know Cordova, so the TV viewer will be naturally skeptical of him, too.
But this episode may not be that cut and dried. There technically are other suspects, as unlikely as it feels that any of our main characters would steal (unless someone decided that they want off the show and nobody told us).
And there’s still the “none of the above” option, because this would not be the first time Chicago Fire has made something look like A and it turns out to be B (remember Casey’s not-death?).
Where we do think this could be going, though, is an exit story for Cordova. He’s made no bones about wanting to stay permanently at Firehouse 51, as you can see in the below clip:
But when you look at the production facts, the story of “Where I Want To Be” seems to point in an opposite direction. Damon Dayoub is a guest star, and unlike past guest stars, there’s been no hint so far that his character is being set up as a series regular.
Ergo, Cordova has to leave Firehouse 51 sometime. Having him accused of theft would be one way to do it. Because either: A) He did it and he’s about to get kicked out of here like Hope, or B) He’s an innocent man, and would you honestly want to keep working around people who accused you of a crime?
Plus, this would be a good time to do it. Chicago Fire has made a bigger deal about Cordova’s past with Dawson than either Dawson or Casey have. Cordova’s line last week about his history with Dawson meaning something to him just felt like trying to create more tension after Dawsey were already over it.

Dawson’s not interested in him, and things at 51 are about to get uncomfortable for him, so could this be the end for Jake Cordova? Or just much ado about nothing? You’ll have to watch tonight and see.
