Former Chicago Fire star Lauren German has had her series Lucifer cancelled at FOX after three seasons; the series finale will air Monday.

Bad news for another Chicago Fire alum, as Lauren German will not be getting another season for her current series Lucifer.

FOX announced on Friday that Lucifer season 3 would be its last; the season and now series finale will be May 14. In confirming the cancellation, showrunner Joe Henderson told fans that Monday’s episode ends on a cliffhanger.

Warner Bros. TV, which produces the show, is now hoping to shop it to another network or service but that has become par for the course with almost every cancelled series and it’s too early to say if it will work.

German played Los Angeles police detective Chloe Decker, who investigates crimes with the devil (portrayed by Tom Ellis). By the end of the first season, the two develop a romantic interest, and it is revealed that Chloe was intentionally placed in Lucifer’s path by God.

More from One Chicago Center

Lucifer was Lauren German’s first TV role and first series regular role since being written out of Chicago Fire. The actress played original paramedic Leslie Shay for two seasons before she was killed off and Kara Killmer was introduced as Sylvie Brett.

Because of the third season, she was on Lucifer for longer than Chicago Fire. The show will end at 54 episodes, while she’s credited for 47 episodes of Fire (and two of Chicago PD).

But with the latest episode of her current show bringing in less than 3 million live viewers, it was no surprise that FOX did not bring the series back for another round.

For comparison purposes, the lowest ratings we’ve seen in the One Chicago franchise this season have been in the mid-5 million range.

The cancellation is the second this week to involve a former member of Firehouse 51. Charlie Barnett, who played Peter Mills, had his current show Valor cancelled by The CW earlier this week after a low-rated first season.

Unfortunately, since Leslie Shay is dead, it’s unlikely that this news will lead to seeing Lauren German on Chicago Fire again—unless the series writes in flashbacks or Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) has more visions of his late best friend.
