One Chicago relationship health check: Which couples still exist?

Brett and Antonio, Chicago Fire

RELATIONSHIP STATUS: OVER

Status update: We hate to say this, Brettonio fans, but we aren’t holding out hope for you after how much your ship was jerked back and forth this season. Fans’ outcry over Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Antonio Dawson’s (Jon Seda) breakup last season seemed to have been heard, as we were told Brettonio would make some form of a comeback this season. And it did—for a few moments.

To wit: Brett and Antonio hooked up for a one-night stand. Then they hooked up again. Then just as Antonio was ready to give them another shot, Brett dumped him saying she didn’t want to be serious with him. This did not stop them from hooking up again, this time in a car during the sole One Chicago crossover this season.

So One Chicago gave us the possibility that Brett was pregnant with Antonio’s baby, only for it to be a false alarm. While all this was going on, Antonio had another random hookup with a foreign detective in the Chicago PD episode “Chasing Monsters” that didn’t make much sense either, and when last we saw him, was telling Brett he’d been set up on a blind date with someone else.

If the fandom wanted to reunite Brettonio, it had the opportunity to do so. The fact that it kept playing this back and forth with them instead gives us a bad feeling about this. And given that the last we’ve heard for them is Antonio telling Brett he’s going out with someone else, we have to mark this ship as currently over.
