When is Chicago Fire season 6 on DVD? Find out the Chicago Fire season 6 DVD release date and details about the newest Chicago Fire DVD season.

Chicago Fire season 6 has been announced for DVD—and you can already pre-order your copy of the most recent season.

According to pre-order listings on Amazon, Universal Studios Home Entertainment (the DVD and Blu-Ray arm of NBCUniversal) will release Chicago Fire season 6 on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

The retail price is listed at $44.99. One Chicago fans can lock in that price, and potentially lower, by pre-ordering your copy now here.

That’s because Amazon’s Pre-Order Price Guarantee means that if the price goes down between the date of your order and Aug. 28, you will automatically receive the lower price.

The season is only being released on DVD; there are no plans for a Blu-Ray release, but that’s not surprising since none of the One Chicago shows have ever gotten the Blu-Ray treatment thus far.

And the August drop date falls in line with the general TV on DVD practice of making the past season available just ahead of the next one (which we don’t have a date for either, but will probably be in September).

In addition to confirming the release date, Universal Studios Home Entertainment has provided a short list of details about what’s going to be on the season 6 set.

It’s listed as a six-disc set that contains all 23 episodes from this season, including both two-hour events.

Plus, Universal is throwing in the 100th episode of Chicago PD, since that was part of a crossover with Chicago Fire.

Again, that’s standard procedure for the One Chicago franchise; last season’s DVD releases also bundled together crossover episodes on each individual season set, so as not to deprive fans of the other half of any One Chicago crossovers.

We don’t have box art or any technical specs for this latest set, but we do know what the special features are going to be.

Unfortunately, that included Chicago PD episode is the one and only special feature on the Chicago Fire season 6 DVD. There are no deleted scenes, no commentary tracks, no featurettes and there’s no gag reel.

One Chicago fans will know that this is par for the course as well—last season all we got was the crossover episodes, too, and the most we’ve ever seen on any Chicago show’s DVD set is that and a blooper reel.

It continues to be disappointing that USHE isn’t investing in any kind of bonus material for the home video releases of the franchise. There are deleted scenes posted to the show’s YouTube channel all the time; you’d think it would be a no-doubter to port those over, especially since those “digital exclusives” tend to get deleted off YouTube once a new season starts.

And what about any kind of behind the scenes features? This wound up being the final season for Monica Raymund as Gabriela Dawson; a tribute piece would’ve been appreciated, looking at what she brought to the show and perhaps getting comments from her co-stars.

There are options to add more, but that won’t be happening this season. We’ll update you as we get package art, technical specs and any further details about this release, but at least fans know they’ll be able to get a physical copy of this season in just under two months.
