Chicago Med season 3 has been announced for DVD—and the season set is already available for pre-order well ahead of its summer arrival.
There’s now a pre-order listing at Amazon for the most recent season of the One Chicago medical drama. According to that listing, Universal Studios Home Entertainment (the home video entity of NBCUniversal) is releasing the third season on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
It’s the same day that Chicago Fire season 6 will also be released on DVD.
The retail price for the Chicago Med season 3 DVD box set is listed at $44.99, but you can lock in that price and possibly lower if you pre-order the season in advance here.

That’s because Amazon’s Pre-Order Price Guarantee means that if the price goes down between the date of your order and Aug. 28, you will automatically receive the lower price.
Unfortunately for Blu-Ray enthusiasts, there are no plans to release a Blu-Ray version of Chicago Med season 3. That’s expected given that there haven’t been any One Chicago seasons ever made available on Blu-Ray.
What else is expected is the August drop date; it falls in line with the usual TV on DVD practice of making the past season available to fans just before the new season starts.
(The idea being that audiences can catch up with the few weeks between the DVD release and the start of the next season, which we don’t have a premiere date for yet either but will likely be in September.)
Along with the Chicago Med season 3 DVD release date and confirming the format, Universal Studios Home Entertainment provided a handful of details about what One Chicago fans can expect on the latest box set.
The Chicago Med season 3 DVD collection will be five discs and contain all 20 episodes from this latest season—and that’s it.
There isn’t a single bonus feature included on this home video release. It’s not entirely unexpected, because USHE has only ever put crossover episodes and possibly a blooper reel on the past sets in the One Chicago franchise, and this show wasn’t included in the only crossover that we had during this season.
But it’s still frustrating. That means the only immediate benefit to buying this set is to have your physical copy of the season, which is a plus but there should be a lot more that could be put onto a set like this. Certainly there have to be deleted scenes or something somewhere?

We don’t have box art or technical specs for this DVD set at the time of publication, but we’ll be on the lookout for both those things as the release date comes closer. At least Chicago Med fans will get to add season 3 to their collection in just under two months.
