Chicago Fire actor Corey Sorenson is celebrating his birthday today, so where is he now after playing Chicago Fire’s late firefighter Andy Darden?

Today we’re saying happy birthday to Chicago Fire alum Corey Sorenson. You may not recall him right away, since he only appeared in one episode, but he had a small yet pivotal role in the show’s history.

Corey Sorenson portrayed Andy Darden, one of the firefighters on Truck 81, in the first episode of Chicago Fire.

It was Andy Darden’s death in the line of duty that kicked off the tension in the pilot and that was part of several episodes afterward, as his widow Heather blamed his Firehouse 51 colleagues for her husband’s passing.

So while Darden physically wasn’t on the screen very long, his presence was definitely felt in more than one episode of the first season.

What has Corey Sorenson done after Chicago Fire?

His biggest episodic role has been recurring in seven episodes of the series Palo Alto playing the character Brian McArthur from 2016 to 2017.

He’s also guest-starred on NCIS: Los Angeles (as NCIS agent David Prieto in the episode “Seoul Man”), Rizzoli & Isles (as Charles Tate in the installment “There Be Ghosts”), and Notorious (as Councilman Davis in that show’s pilot).

Meanwhile, Sorenson has also appeared in a few films; his most recent credit is a film called Burning at Both Ends, which stars Cary Elwes and Jason Patric. The movie is still in post-production and doesn’t have a release date yet.

You can get a glimpse of Corey Sorenson playing a very much alive character in the promo for his NCIS: Los Angeles episode (he appears at about the 0:15 mark):

While it doesn’t look like he’s been super-active since portraying Andy Darden, Corey Sorenson is still out there working and playing new characters. His stint on Chicago Fire may have been brief but we’ll always remember him as the first member of Firehouse 51 who we ever missed, and we still think about him today.
