One Chicago’s love affairs don’t always last. One Chicago Center ranks the most painful breakups in Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med history.

Romance is a major part of the One Chicago universe. Chicago PD, Chicago Fire and Chicago Med all have at least one romantic relationship in their canon, and shipping is also a significant part of the fandom, too.

Over the years, some ships have done very well for themselves—we’ve seen multiple weddings and even kids. But they seem to be the exception, not the rule. There’s that old saying about happy people not making good TV, and that’s definitely reared its head in One Chicago.

For every couple that’s made it, we’ve had others who have broken up, been pushed apart by their show’s writers, or otherwise gone their separate ways for a variety of reasons. And while that’s a part of life, there are some breakups that have hit us harder in the feels than others.

After much debate, we’re aiming to answer the question: Which One Chicago breakup hurt us the most? Which ones left not only the respective couples upset, but the fans, too?

Click through the below slideshow for our ranking of the five most heart-breaking breakups in One Chicago, and let us know which unhappy endings you’d put on the list in the comments at the end of this article.
