Chicago Fire fans can get their fix and check out Chicago Fire stars’ other great projects over hiatus with One Chicago Center’s summer playlist.

Looking for something to watch until Chicago Fire returns in September? Still want your fix of Chicago Fire stars, even though the show isn’t on the air?

That’s where we come in. One Chicago Center has curated a playlist of five great projects that feature Chicago Fire actors or actresses in other roles, so that you can watch some of your favorite stars until they return to Firehouse 51.

There are only two criteria: we’re limiting our list to our favorite five projects, not one for every series regular (because we know you also want to enjoy your summer vacation!) and our choices must be available to stream or purchase online (so they’re available for you to watch now!).

Check out our Chicago Fire hiatus playlist below, and happy summer viewing:

More from One Chicago Center

1. Lauren German in Hawaii Five-0 (Netflix)

Lauren German hasn’t been a regular on Chicago Fire since season 2, but she’s still a fan favorite. And after leaving the show, she was cast in a recurring role on CBS‘s Hawaii Five-0.

Lauren played Lori Weston, who joined Steve McGarrett’s (Alex O’Loughlin) task force during the show’s second season—and was also positioned as a potential love interest for him.

She had a good chemistry with O’Loughlin, and she got to do even more action than she had on Chicago Fire. While her character didn’t last, you can still watch all of her episodes on Netflix, and they’re a lot of fun.

2. Monica Raymund in Lie to Me (Hulu)

If you’re down over Monica Raymund leaving Chicago Fire, then you can check out her previous series regular role on FOX‘s Lie to Me. She plays Ria Torres, a member of The Lightman Group, as they take on all kinds of cases. Just like on Chicago Fire, Raymund is a tough character who takes no nonsense. And she has a love interest on this show, too (though it’s nothing like the Dawsey relationship).

Lie to Me is a great show to watch regardless, as the main cast is led by a superlative Tim Roth and also includes Kelli Williams (The Practice) and Brendan Hines (The Tick). Mekhi Phifer, who guest-starred in the Chicago PD episode “Captive”, recurs during season 1 and joins the main roster in the second season.

3. Jesse Spencer in Uptown Girls (Amazon Video)

We don’t want everything on our playlist to be drama, so how about Jesse Spencer in a romantic movie? The future Captain Matthew Casey had one of his biggest film roles back in 2003, when he played the love interest for the late Brittany Murphy in this funny but also sweet movie.

Uptown Girls involves Murphy’s character Molly becoming down on her luck and taking a job as a nanny for Ray, played by a young Dakota Fanning (way before she starred in TNT’s The Alienist). She meets Jesse’s character Neal at her birthday party, but one of the movie’s plots is how long it takes for them to genuinely find their way back to each other.

Directed by Boaz Yakin (Remember the Titans), Uptown Girls also has some serious plot points; Ray is a hypochondriac with a father in a coma, and there’s a beautiful friendship that develops as Molly grows closer to her. This movie also involves Jesse Spencer singing, so what else could you want?

4. David Eigenberg in Sex and the City (HBO)

As Christopher Herrmann on Chicago Fire, David Eigenberg has gotten run through the wringer, particularly at the end of this most recent season. However, fans can go completely in the other direction when you watch his other hit TV role as Steve Brady in HBO’s Sex and the City.

Steve is introduced during Sex and the City season 2 as a love interest for Miranda Hobbes (series star Cynthia Nixon). He’s the bartender at a bar where she gets stood up by BFF Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker). David Eigenberg would go on to appear in 41 of the show’s 96 episodes and both movies. Luckily for Fire fans, HBO has made his first season available to stream directly through their website.

5. Teri Reeves in Battleground (Hulu)

Chicago Fire fans didn’t get to see a lot of Teri Reeves; she was only a regular for the show’s first season as Dr. Hallie Thomas, Casey’s ex-fiancee. Though the two rekindled their relationship to a point, signs of a Dawsey hookup were established early on and Hallie was killed off. But over on Hulu, Teri is front and center in one of the streaming service’s first original series.

These days Hulu is well known for original shows, but Battleground was the first they ever made. And Teri Reeves was the female lead of the series, playing KJ Jamison, the communications director of a dark horse political campaign. She delivers a great performance in the political mockumentary opposite Jay Hayden (Station 19 and The Catch), and you’ll see sides of her that you didn’t get to see during Chicago Fire season 1.
