Chicago Med season 4 character preview: Ethan Choi

What will happen

What’s most likely to happen for Ethan Choi during Chicago Med season 4 is the exact opposite of everything we’ve just stated. There’s been no indication that Arden Cho is returning as Emily in the new season, and that would fit with the show’s precedent of not seriously carrying plots over from one season to the next (see: the writing out of Robin Charles as well as the scaling back of Isidore Latham, though the latter was in part due to Ato Essandoh having other commitments).

It’s more plausible that Emily is forgotten about, with a brief explanation being given for her not being there (such as her leaving Chicago for real this time), while the show has Choi and April make up and their relationship stays a focal point.

Chicago Med put a major emphasis on romantic relationships during the third season, and Chexton is also easier to write for since both characters are series regulars. Fans should expect to see more of them and their relationship moving forward in Chicago Med season 4, because that fits with the overall direction the show is going in.

If they’re still together there are a few other story ideas, like how has Choi’s relationship with April’s brother Noah (Roland Buck III) changed since Choi and April started dating? Noah previously complained to April that Choi was too hard on him, and that has probably only gotten more awkward. It hasn’t been addressed yet, though, so now is the time since Choi’s romance has become a prominent part of his character arc.
