What will happen

All signs point to business as usual for Otis looking forward. His relationship with Lily seems like it’s back to normal after he tried to push her away while in the hospital, and there’s no reason to get rid of that storyline, when Chicago Fire fans have grown to not only like the pairing but also love her character.

As mentioned previously, he’s also back fighting fires with the rest of the team, so he’ll be there to participate in all of the various rescues, fires and other risky situations that Firehouse 51 will have thrown at them this coming season.

In fact, he might be in one of the best possible positions in that sense—because he’ll likely stay out of trouble. It wouldn’t make sense to have Otis seriously injured again this season after he just recovered from last season; that’d be repetitive, after all! Or a serious case of bad luck.

Otis has always been more of a supporting character, and with him getting a multi-episode story last season, we’re not expecting him to get another big chunk of the limelight this fall. But there’s room for Chicago Fire season 7 to give him an episode or two, and hopefully it will, because he’s turned a page and shown a lot more of what he’s capable of.
