Chicago PD season 6 character preview: Hailey Upton

What will happen

Since the big questions about Hailey Upton were answered last season, Chicago PD season 6 is wide open for her. The show will likely keep having her make tough decisions, because that’s what happens here; this unit has a very clear way that it operates, and the main characters are all team players. Expect Upton to continue to assimilate into Intelligence, though hopefully not so far that she loses what makes her stand out.

The partnership between Upton and Halstead will continue to be explored, but in what direction? They both had their own separate personal dramas last year that meant they were occasionally more focused on themselves than each other.

But they were also there for one another when it mattered most, and both having come out the other side, perhaps that mutual struggle will have them become stronger partners. We’ve seen them find that mutual respect and how they want to look out for each other—so now that all the drama is over, can they get to know each other better?

Some Chicago PD fans have questioned if Halstead and Upton will become romantically involved, but that would feel like a case of deja vu considering Halstead dated his last partner. Having said that, with only one major ship left on the show, it wouldn’t be shocking at all if Chicago PD season 6 decided to introduce a love interest for Upton. Let’s just hope that she has better taste than Jay did.
