Chicago Fire season 7 character preview: Sylvie Brett
What will happen
Chicago Fire will give Sylvie Brett plenty of screen time at the start of the seventh season. That’s a given, because the show has to spend time to introduce new paramedic Emily Foster (who will be played by Annie Ilonzeh). Part of that will be Brett reacting to Emily, and the show developing the dynamic between the two of them.
Brett will be a little cordial, or even tough, toward Emily at the start given how close she was to Dawson, and because it’s just good TV. It would be too easy if Emily showed up and Brett was her new best friend. That being said, it won’t be that long before Brett is back to her warm, funny self because that’s who Sylvie Brett is.
It also wouldn’t be good if the show turned her into the harder, more cynical Brett that it played with last season; why we love Brett, and what makes her stand out, is that she’s Firehouse 51’s ray of sunshine in a really hard job.
Once Brett has adjusted to her new partner, audiences should expect that she’ll be back on the job as strong as ever. The One Chicago shows don’t always dwell on what’s happened in the season before, so we expect she’ll have gotten over the trauma she experienced at the end of season 6 and have bounced back stronger. Just in time, because this will be a big season for her.
