What should happen

Now that Chicago Fire has finally put Stella back together with Severide, we’ll repeat exactly what we said in his character preview: her love life should not be an issue during Chicago Fire season 7. We’ve spent two seasons watching those two circle each other; that’s more than enough.

Instead, the show has never actually let the audience see what these two do as a couple. When they were together before, things were cut off quickly because the series introduced Anna Turner (Charlotte Sullivan) and created Severanna instead. So how will Stella and Severide work when the honeymoon period wears off and they have to deal with the realities of being a couple?

Plus, Stella is now living with Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg). It would be genius, and hilarious, if the cynically married Herrmann started giving Stella some unsolicited relationship advice. Can you imagine the first time Stella gets irritated by Severide and vents in Herrmann’s direction?

Here’s something else that should develop: following the departure of Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund), Stella can succeed her as Firehouse 51’s outspoken female voice. Dawson was as much a leader as Severide and Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), and Stella can be just as tough and forward. Will she be Chicago Fire‘s new female lead?
