Chicago PD season 6 character preview: Kim Burgess
What should happen
Chicago PD season 6 will be Kim Burgess’s second full season in Intelligence, which is still not a lot of time when you think about it. So even though she’s now got a much more prominent position in the show, it would be interesting to see her still not quite have things figured out.
Don’t get us wrong: the kick-butt, self-assured Burgess is awesome. But she shouldn’t be a crack member of the team so quickly, and Marina Squerciati is also very good at playing the character’s more vulnerable moments, so why not use it? She can make a mistake or two, and the world isn’t going to end. She’ll learn from those mistakes and feel like a more well-rounded character.
At the same time, there needs to be a resolution in her personal life. Whether you ship Burzek or not, the fact that Chicago PD has had something happen between them and then completely not developed it twice now is frustrating. They either need to get back together or not, but let’s just figure out which one it is so both characters can move on.
And for the love of everything, someone please give us more scenes between Burgess and Trudy Platt (Amy Morton). Those scenes were some of Chicago PD‘s funniest, but with Burgess’s move upstairs, they’ve pretty much disappeared.
