Chicago Med season 4 character preview: Natalie Manning
What should happen
Obviously, Natalie has to give Will an answer to his marriage proposal. In Will’s preview, we said that she needs to say yes, because he might just implode otherwise. That’s what’s best for his character.
But if you’re coming at this from Natalie’s side, the best advice for her is honestly to say no, for a number of reasons. Why on Earth did Will think proposing to Natalie when she was angry at him was a good idea? Yes, he was going to do it anyway, but he could have waited a day or two—doing it after she stormed out of the hospital makes it look like a knee-jerk reaction.
And these two are obviously not ready to be married. Natalie is a woman who started the show mourning the loss of her husband Jeff; it took the entire first season for her to get through that. She was very emotionally invested in that marriage. She and Will have been dating for maybe a year, depending on how much time passed during the third season. And they’re going to go and get married? It doesn’t seem true to character that Natalie would move so quickly to remarry.
Yet if she says yes—and we’re predicting she will—then she needs to go through the process. She has to have time and space to focus on what this means to her, rather than Chicago Med focusing only on the cute Manstead moments. And she also needs to take a deep breath, and have a few less outbursts—or at least some legitimate consequences for having them.
