One Chicago stars preview this week’s Chicago Crossover
Chicago PD’s Jesse Lee Soffer and Chicago Med’s Nick Gehlfuss preview the upcoming One Chicago crossover event, which brings all three shows together.
One Chicago comes together on Wednesday, when NBC celebrates its new Chicago Wednesdays schedule with a crossover event uniting all three One Chicago series.
The action begins on Chicago Fire at a special time, before moving to Chicago Med and ending on Chicago PD.
Front and center in the crossover’s story are the Halstead brothers, who discover that they have a very personal stake in resolving Chicago’s latest crisis.
One Chicago Center connected with Chicago Med star Nick Gehlfuss and Chicago PD star Jesse Lee Soffer to find out what’s ahead for the Halsteads in tonight’s three-hour crossover.

“We’re not sure if our father is caught in a fire,” Nick revealed, referring to Pat Halstead (Louis Herthum), last seen in Chicago Med season 2.
“I’m at the hospital receiving patients coming in, and he’s on the scene really trying to find out where our dad is. We moved him to a new building, because our childhood home was falling apart. We wanted to give him a better living arrangement.
“It just so happens [that] a fire starts at this big high-rise building.”

“You’re going to see Jay and Will’s father be involved and that’s going to be a source of a lot of drama and you see how those characters deal with that,” Jesse agreed. “You’re going to see a character on Chicago Fire get injured in the event. It’s going to be a really intense night.”
He’s particularly excited to do a three-show crossover now that the One Chicago shows are all in one three-hour block.
“It’s really cool that we have an entire night to do a crossover now, because we’re all on the same night,” Jesse continued. “The order’s going to go different—it’s going to go Fire, Med and then PD. For the crossover it kind of makes sense that something would happen on Fire, and that carries us to Chicago Med, and then PD‘s got to solve the crime, whatever that may be.
“It’s going to be really cool for the fans,” he added. “It’s basically a three-hour movie.”
And not even the actors are aware of how the whole crossover turns out. “I’m really excited to see those two [Fire and Med episodes], because we don’t get to see what happens with the others,” said Jesse’s co-star Tracy Spiridakos. “We don’t get to read the Fire and the Med scripts, we just get ours.
“We get bits and pieces when someone’s done the crossover, whoever’s been on [Chicago PD], so I’m really excited to see it all come together.”
The One Chicago Crossover starts at 8/7c on NBC.
