Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD ratings are in for the Chicago Crossover. Here’s the Oct. 3 edition of the One Chicago Ratings Report.

With another week of the One Chicago season in the books, it’s time for another look at the franchise’s TV ratings with the One Chicago Ratings Report.

As expected, the highly-promoted Chicago Crossover event garnered big ratings for all three of the One Chicago shows, and propelled NBC to a very successful Wednesday night.

Moving ahead an hour to start the night, Chicago Fire pulled in 7.99 million live viewers. That’s only a mere 30,000 more over last week, but it was still enough to be the second most-watched show of the night.

What was number one, you ask? Well, those honors went to Chicago Med. Despite being on an hour later and being the second part of the crossover, it had 8.75 million watchers live.

That’s an increase of 1.7 million eyeballs (+1.07) over the previous week’s Chicago Med season premiere. It was also the biggest week-to-week increase for any of the three shows.

With those increased numbers, that made Chicago Med the most-watched broadcast TV show airing on Wednesday evening!

Things weren’t so good in the 10 p.m. hour. To close out Wednesday night, Chicago PD finished its second straight week as the least-viewed One Chicago series.

It did experience a lift in ratings, going from 7.14 to 7.76 people watching live. That’s a gain of 620,000 over the Chicago PD season 6 premiere.

To compare: Chicago Med had the largest overall audience and the biggest gain in TV ratings this week.

Chicago PD had the second-biggest gain, but the lowest overall ratings. And Chicago Fire came in second in overall audience, but its ratings gain was the least of the three.

What’s interesting to notice about the TV ratings is, despite the increased audience, none of the series gained that much in the demographic results. Chicago Fire and Chicago Med were up 0.1 to a 1.3 share, while Chicago PD stayed at last week’s 1.2.

So while our shows did pick up additional audience members, they weren’t from the adults 18 to 49 group. They were from the existing audience that the franchise is already attracting.

It would have been nice to see the crossover break into the audience that One Chicago isn’t getting yet, and that would be great for NBC (as the 18-49 group is most popular with advertisers). That’s still an area for improvement.

But overall, thanks to the Chicago Crossover, the three One Chicago series were the three most viewed shows on Wednesday night—making NBC the evening’s most-watched network. That is a huge feather in the cap of fans everywhere.

It’s no shocker that the Chicago Crossover led the One Chicago franchise to big ratings. That’s par for the course. The question is, will the shows be able to keep those numbers up next week?
