Law and Order SVU season 20, episode 4 preview: Revenge
What should Dick Wolf fans watch for in tonight’s Law and Order SVU? Prepare for this week’s episode with our SVU season 20, episode 4 preview.
The next Law and Order SVU episode will be as interesting for what’s happening on the other side of the table, as it is for what the detectives are doing.
Thursday’s episode is entitled “Revenge,” and focuses on the team’s investigation into a series of break-ins. As the break-ins get increasingly violent, the pressure is on the police to find and stop the perpetrators.
But given the title, it’s clear that Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her squad are going to find a personal motive for something in the mix. Are the people committing the crimes out to get back at someone?
Or will one of the victims take the law into their own hands, as has been seen a few times on this show over the years?

Without more specifics about the premise, it’s hard to get into too much detail for predictions this week. But there is one thing in particular that will catch the interest of TV fans: the guest cast.
Callie Thorne reprises her role as defense attorney Nikki Staines, in what will be her second time going head-to-head with Peter Stone (Philip Winchester).

Thorne, of course, is one of TV’s great actresses whose other credits include Necessary Roughness for USA, Rescue Me for FX, and way back when she partnered with Jon Seda on NBC’s Homicide: Life on the Street.
While she won’t have a ton of scenes in “Revenge” since she doesn’t appear until the case goes to court (and defense attorneys are usually not a big part of this series anyway), it’s great that Thorne is back for SVU season 20.
If the series is looking for a recurring nemesis for Peter Stone—who had one on Chicago Justice in Billy O’Boyle (Gary Basaraba), but has yet to find one in New York—she would be an excellent idea just to watch these two remarkable actors work together more regularly.
Keep your eye on Thorne’s performance this week, and hopefully it won’t be the last week this season that her name comes up in conversation.
