What should fans watch for in this week’s Chicago Med? Get ready for tonight’s episode with our Chicago Med season 4, episode 4 preview.

This week’s Chicago Med could be a headache for a couple of the hospital’s doctors, depending on how the writing wants to steer the hospital this week.

Thursday’s episode is called “Backed Against The Wall,” and one of the plots has Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) suspicious of a patient who seems to be in constant pain. What’s the real truth behind her condition?

It’s not uncommon for medical dramas to include a patient who’s lying about their health, most often because they’re trying to get access to pain medication, but there can be other reasons, too. So is this one of those situations?

Choi will have to figure that out, and while he’s doing so, perhaps he can pass some knowledge on to new medical student Terry McNeal (recurring guest star Colby Lewis).

But it’s always an iffy situation when you have to find out if someone’s being truthful, and then if you accuse them of lying, that can turn into a disaster.

Choi is Chicago Med‘s most level-headed character, so he probably has the best chance of not having this blow up in his face, but it still won’t be easy.

The other plotline that fans need to keep an eye on involves Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss). Someone from the police department comes looking for Will, and since NBC normally lists any crossovers in the synopsis, it’s not his brother Jay.

So who are these cops, and what do they want? Is Will in hot water again (not out of the question)? Is there something else that’s going on he can help them with (which has also been seen before?)

This subplot could go pretty much any direction. Not only is it a bit weird, but depending on how the writers want to spin it, it could also become a huge problem for Will, too.

Remember that the hospital now has Gwen Garrett (Heather Headley) watching everyone’s every move. If the cops show up for any kind of negative reason, she’s going to be all over this, worried about it being a PR or legal disaster.

And as the Chicago Crossover demonstrated, Gwen is willing to do anything if she believes it’s in the best interests of the hospital. This is a woman who tried to use Will’s own father to make her numbers look better. She’ll have no problem leaving him out to dry, too. Keep an eye on what’s up for him, and what she does in response, because we could have our first big bureaucratic crisis in this episode.
