One Chicago ratings report: Week of October 17
Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD ratings are in for the latest episodes. Here’s the Oct. 17 edition of the One Chicago Ratings Report.
With another week of the One Chicago season in the books, it’s time for another look at the franchise’s TV ratings with the One Chicago Ratings Report.
Back in the leadoff spot, Chicago Med had 7.64 million live viewers Wednesday. That is a drop of more than two million from our last ratings report (8.75 million on Oct. 3).
But keep in mind that the previous numbers were for the crossover—which is always higher than a normal episode.
Chicago Med ranked second out of the 15 broadcast TV shows that aired on Wednesday, and had a steady 1.2 share of the adults 18-49 audience, which was good enough for fifth place there.

Worth noting is that Med was able to beat CBS‘s Wednesday night mainstay Survivor, which had 7.28 million viewers live.
If the show can continue doing that in the following weeks, that’s a big accomplishment for NBC. The network has always struggled against Survivor in the past.

In second position Chicago Fire rose up to become the top One Chicago program of the week.
Its 7.86 million live audience members were not only some 200,000 more than Med, but also enough for it to be the most-watched broadcast show!
That’s huge for Fire, given that the series has had an up and down battle with the TV ratings going back to last season and even in this season’s premiere. Will it finally get back on solid ground? This is a good start.
Unfortunately, we don’t have good news about Chicago PD. For the second time in three weeks, it was the least popular One Chicago show.
Its 7.02 million watchers live was still a strong number overall—good for fourth place—but also a significant amount off the pace of the other two series. It’s also down from our last report (which was at 7.14).
After four weeks, it seems like more Chicago PD fans are watching the show on DVR than they are live. Sometimes that happens for 10 p.m. shows because of how late they air, but PD didn’t have a problem last season, so why is this an issue now?
Perhaps it has something to do with the quality of the season so far. Of the three shows, PD has had some of the most controversial writing, such as the demise of Burzek and the introduction of Katherine Brennan. It hasn’t been the best season yet, but there’s time for improvement.
Ratings have predictably dipped since the crossover, but at least from a numbers point of view, NBC’s decision to put the One Chicago franchise together has paid off. Now let’s see if they can keep their hold on TV audiences every Wednesday night!
