What we learned

This week was rough on the kids (namely teenagers) of One Chicago. Chicago Fire featured a 12-year-old who was being given performance-enhancing drugs by her coach, and another kid playing with an active grenade.

Over on Chicago Med, a baby broke his arm when his mom collapsed, only for the show to reveal that she has leukemia and will die without getting a stem cell transplant.

And then on Chicago PD, the daughter of a VIP got accosted by a murderer when she got out of the patrol car during a ride-along with Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati). This wasn’t a good week to be a kid.

What you missed

  • One Chicago viewers finally learned a little about Stella Kidd’s (Miranda Rae Mayo) past, such as the fact that she had purple hair at her high school prom. Looking good, Stella.
  • Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) has agreed to inform on a neighborhood gangster for a task force to keep from being arrested by the FBI, but his fiancee has no idea about it—yet. We all know Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) will find out.
  • Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) is concealing a shoulder injury and popping prescription drugs. As he tells his coworkers not to cover things up.
  • Nina Shore (Patti Murin) reappeared at Molly’s Bar on Chicago Fire.
  • Characters from Chicago PD were on all three shows this week. Kim Burgess and Kevin Atwater guest-starred on Fire, while Jay Halstead and Hank Voight were on Med, and of course everyone was on their own show.

Video of the week

This week saw NBC post another Chicago PD lie detector video. These would be a lot more fun if the lie detector was actually real, but they’re still kind of cute. Plus, the bantering between Marina Squerciati and Patrick John Flueger only reinforces how disappointing it is that the show dumped Burzek. These two are just too much fun together.
