Chicago Med season 4 casts Pretty Little Liars’ Ian Harding

Chicago Med will host a Pretty Little Liars reunion, as Ian Harding is joining Chicago Med season 4 in a role opposite Torrey DeVitto.

Ian Harding is checking into Chicago Med, and all signs point to him working closely with Torrey DeVitto, literally.

DeVitto posted a photo on Twitter this week showing that she and Harding are sharing a trailer on the Chicago Med season 4 set.

The actor has been cast as Phillip Davis, a patient who winds up bonding with Dr. Natalie Manning (DeVitto). The role is described as recurring, so he’ll be appearing in at least two episodes.

Wonder how Natalie’s fiancé Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) will react to that?

Ian Harding and Torrey DeVitto both had roles on ABC Family’s popular teen drama Pretty Little Liars. DeVitto appeared throughout the show’s seven seasons as Melissa Hastings, the half-sister of Spencer (Troian Bellisario).

Harding was a main cast member through the entire run as Ezra “Fitz” Fitzgerald, the English teacher who became involved with Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale), and ultimately married her in the series finale that aired last June.

While details of their storyline on Chicago Med are still a bit vague, the knowledge that they’re working together will entertain Pretty Little Liars fans and might make One Chicago fans question the status of Manstead.

After all, the storyline of a patient bonding with their doctor has been done before on many other medical shows, and it often turns romantic (see: Grey’s Anatomy). While there’s no reason for the engaged Natalie to go that far, that doesn’t mean Will can’t get jealous.

And if he does, how will Natalie react? Fans saw last season how Natalie got very, very angry when someone else showed interest in Will, though she had more reason to because Will actually kissed Dr. Maya Frisch (Emma Duncan) and went back to her place.

Can Will be mature enough to realize that even if Phillip becomes partial to Natalie, she’s not going to leave him? Or will the show play out the same story, just from the other side? That’s really up to how much drama the Chicago Med writers want to foist on Manstead before their wedding.
