What should fans watch for in this week’s Law and Order SVU? Get ready for tonight’s episode with our SVU season 20, episode 8 preview.

There’s a lot for Dick Wolf fans to keep an eye on in the next episode of Law & Order: SVU, and most of it doesn’t have anything to do with the plot.

First and foremost, Thursday’s installment “Hell’s Kitchen” is directed by Monica Raymund, who recently finished her work on Chicago Fire as paramedic Gabriela Dawson.

This is going to be the first time that some Chicago Fire fans will get to see Monica Raymund the director, as opposed to Monica Raymund the actress. And that’s noteworthy in and of itself for a few reasons.

Not only is it just neat to see as a fan, but since she worked as an actress on another Dick Wolf series for six seasons, she could have a unique perspective on how to direct one, too.

“Hell’s Kitchen” is also another SVU episode offering an interesting guest cast. The one to watch is Jacob Pitts, who previously played Deputy U.S. Marshal Tim Gutterson on FX‘s Justified.

Anyone who watched Justified (which also starred Chicago Justice alum Joelle Carter) knows that Pitts is a very underrated actor. That show didn’t give him a lot to do, but when it did he was outstanding with it. He’s one of those actors who’s never quite gotten the screen time he deserves.

In this show, though, he’s also moving out of his comfort zone by playing an attorney. So how will he handle such a different role? And will the script give him enough screen time to really shine?

Other guest stars include Luke Kirby (in his second guest spot, whose other credits include Rectify and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as the celebrity chef who’s being accused of sexual misconduct. With this episode being advertised as “ripped from the headlines” it seems like this episode is drawing from the accusations against Mario Batali, but we’ll find out when it airs.

Genevieve Angelson (from another Amazon series, Good Girls Revolt) is a featured guest star as well, presumably playing the accuser. So this episode has an exciting director and a strong guest cast, while being another episode that spotlights Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish):
