What should fans watch for in this week’s Chicago Med? Get ready for tonight’s episode with our Chicago Med season 4, episode 8 preview.

The doctors and nurses of Chicago Med have always done whatever it takes for their patients, but sometimes that has consequences.

Wednesday’s episode “Play By My Rules” focuses on those consequences. The main storyline for the episode involves Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) choosing not to follow a direct order from Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson).

Now, it’s not uncommon for one of the doctors to upset Goodwin; this happens a couple of times every season. It’s already taken place in Chicago Med season 4, when a woman’s death was faked so she could escape her abusive husband.

So the real question is, what is Connor going to do? And how bad is it compared to the other things that he and other staff members have done in the past?

He’s the character most likely to push back against the hospital administration; this is the guy who was threatening legal action in the second season when he was determined to protect his girlfriend.

All of the other characters will fight and argue, but Connor has more resources and more attitude to do something about it, so this could be an interesting plotline for Chicago Med if it’s something serious and not just a case of the week disagreement.

Elsewhere, is this going to be the week that Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) finally calls out her fiancee on his behavior?

Natalie’s been suspicious for a few episodes now, but there’s only so many weeks the writers can play that before she has to get a clue. There’s been enough odd moments already, culminating in that ulcer at the end of last week’s episode, that she should be moving past suspecting and into confronting any time now.

Especially since this is the last episode before the Thanksgiving holiday, that would be an obvious cliffhanger to leave the audience thinking about when the show returns. And it’s something that at this point, many fans are waiting for.

But is that going to happen, while Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) also has to juggle his FBI obligation and another case of the week? Is there room in this episode to move all those stories forward and give us the confrontation that has to happen? Or will Chicago Med wait until the midseason finale for the Manstead reveal?

Watch a sneak peek below to see what Will is working on tonight, then tune in to watch the full episode and see if this is the Wednesday where it all comes crashing down on his head.
