One Chicago franchise off air next two weeks for NBC holiday shows
Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med will be off air for two weeks, as NBC is bumping the One Chicago franchise in favor of holiday programs.
One Chicago fans are getting a two-week break. NBC is preempting the entire One Chicago block for the next two weeks, while it airs Thanksgiving and Christmas specials respectively.
Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD will not be seen this coming Wednesday, Nov. 21 or the next Wednesday, Nov. 28.
This Wednesday is the day before Thanksgiving, so NBC is doing what it did last year and has a lineup of Turkey Day-related material.
Instead of Chicago Med, viewers will get a one-hour Hollywood Game Night special called “Pop Goes The Game Night,” where Jane Lynch hosts as teams of celebrities play party games.

That episode does have a connection to our favorite franchise: one of the celebrities featured is Shiri Appleby, who played Leslie Shay’s (Lauren German) girlfriend Clarice Carthage on Chicago Fire.
Pre-empting both Chicago Fire and Chicago Med is a repeat airing of “A Saturday Night Live Thanksgiving.” The three-hour special showcases Thanksgiving-related clips from past episodes of NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

The following week, the network is getting started on Christmas early. Chicago Med as well as Chicago Fire will be replaced by “Christmas In Rockefeller Center,” which showcases the lighting of the iconic Christmas tree in New York.
The two-hour TV special also features musical performances; this year includes John Legend, Diana Ross, Pentatonix, Tony Bennett with Diana Krall, and America’s Got Talent winner Darci Lynne Farmer.
Then in place of Chicago PD will be Legend’s first-ever Christmas special. “A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy” features the award-winning artist and his wife Chrissy Teigen as they ring in the holidays with celebrity guests and more performances.
It’s tied to his holiday album, which is also called A Legendary Christmas. Listen to John Legend’s cover of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” below.
Meanwhile, for One Chicago fans, this is a good time to catch up with current episodes for free on Hulu. You won’t get new episodes until December.
