What will happen in the Chicago Fire midseason finale? Here are our Chicago Fire predictions ahead of Chicago Fire season 7’s winter finale.

The Chicago Fire midseason finale airs this Wednesday, so it’s time to predict where the series will leave One Chicago fans. Every One Chicago finale always has surprises, plot twists, reveals or something else that leaves audiences wanting more, and this will be no exception.

Will Casey get into more life-threatening trouble helping Naomi Graham with her investigation? Is there going to be another big fire scene or accident involving someone that Firehouse 51 knows? Who’s poised to have something important happen to them? Here’s what we think will happen on Chicago Fire:

1. Brett will take a big step forward

Expect something big for Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) in this episode. She ended last season on such a down note, having a breakdown in her car over a particularly harrowing call, and her storyline in this season has been all about her figuring out how to move on without Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund).

At a certain point, she has to complete that journey. And Chicago Fire has been dropping hints that Brett is moving on, whether it’s her imparting needed lessons to new partner Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) or flirting with Foster’s old friend Kyle Sheffield (Teddy Sears). The midseason finale is an excellent opportunity for her to close one chapter of her life and move on to the next.

That could take many forms. Maybe Brett will ask Kyle out, since it looks like she’s well and truly moved on from Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) after their renewed relationship didn’t work out thanks to production difficulties. Maybe Brett will definitively settle into being Paramedic in Charge.

Or she could take a page from Dawson’s book and step forward to help fix something at Firehouse 51. Since Dawson’s absence, there hasn’t been that third voice helping to keep the wheels on the proverbial wagon and sort out everyone else’s disagreements. Brett certainly seems like she has become more assertive this season.

Whatever happens, this episode of Chicago Fire will be an important one for Sylvie Brett and set her up for her next storyline in the rest of the season. Look for clues as to what’s coming up in her future.
