What should fans watch for in this week’s episode of FBI? Get ready for tonight’s action with our FBI season 1, episode 9 preview.

As other TV series are winding down for the holidays, Dick Wolf‘s FBI is still on the case. And this week’s episode has a premise that most procedural fans will be familiar with.

Tuesday’s episode is entitled “Compromised” because that’s exactly what happens in it—security is compromised, leading to the death of a United States Marshal and the important witness under their protection.

It becomes clear early on that the perpetrators had help from someone close to the case, which leads the Federal Bureau of Investigation to begin a mole hunt.

Did someone in the Marshals or elsewhere leak the location of the witness to the defendants that they were testifying against? If so, who and just as importantly, why? What could motivate such a betrayal?

These sort of “good cop turned bad cop” stories are one of the most common plots in the crime drama genre. Either a main character is wrongly accused of going bad, or is betrayed by their ex-partner, friend, mentor, ex-lover or other close associate. It happens on almost every show, to varying degrees of success.

So what’s going to make this show’s take on the idea stand out?

Keep an eye on Michael Mosley (who will be known to TV fans as Vic’s ex in Longmire and as one of the snarky paramedics on Sirens), who guest stars as a U.S. Marshal.

Given his relative name recognition and who he’s playing, Mosley is either the unlucky dead man or the prime suspect. He tops the cast list released by CBS so TV precedent would suggest the latter. Whatever it turns out to be, he’s one of those reliable TV actors who will turn in a good performance and it will elevate this episode.

Nina Lisandrello (Beauty and the Beast) is here, too, and of course the show has its two main stars Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki to rely on. Those two have quickly formed a good pair, and FBI has seemingly noticed that they’re the strongest part of the series.

If “Compromised” continues to rely on them, and maybe gives them some good scenes about the meaning of carrying a badge and/or being loyal to your colleagues, this could be an episode that’s worth watching even if it doesn’t reinvent the plot. Watch a sneak peek by playing the video below:
