Chicago Fire midseason finale preview: Always A Catch
What should fans watch for in the Chicago Fire midseason finale? Get ready for tonight’s episode with our Chicago Fire season 7, episode 9 preview.
The Chicago Fire midseason finale is tonight, and One Chicago fans can expect that it will end with a bang—as has been the case with almost every finale that the show has ever had.
Every One Chicago show likes to do something big when it comes to a finale, but Fire in particular really swings for the fences. Audiences should expect that there will be at least one moment that shocks them, possibly right at the very end of the episode.
After all, this was the show that ended its fifth season with four characters trapped in a burning building. Then it ended the sixth season with a reveal about the race for fire commissioner. There is always something, and there’s no indication that this will be any different.
But how will we get there? Well, therein lies the rub.

The information released by NBC reveals two major plotlines: a car accident that involves someone close to Firehouse 51, and problems for Stellaride.
The former likely involves a supporting character, as the synopsis didn’t say it was a member of Firehouse 51.

Common sense suggests Cruz’s girlfriend Chloe (recurring guest star Kristen Gutoskie), because she’s been in enough episodes this season that the fans have warmed up to her, but she’s not huge enough that the show has to keep her around.
You do have to feel for her, though, because after all we met her when she had to be rescued from a fire earlier this season! This just isn’t her year.
As for Chicago Fire‘s new primary couple, well, the sneak peek video pretty much tells you what their issue is. Watch it by playing the video below:
The jealousy idea is interesting, because the show has already been through this twice before but the other way around. Was Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) jealous of Anna? Then was Stella jealous of Renee?
She was quite obviously jealous of the latter, and now Severide is experiencing the same emotions toward Stella’s friend Tyler (returing guest star Tye White). That’s a lot of jealousy in one pairing; it also gets a little weird when you realize that unlike Anna and Renee, Tyler isn’t an ex. Severide just thinks he wants to date Stella.
So there’s two ways the finale can play this: make him right, and do another love triangle, or make him wrong and address the jealousy issues both of these two have. Hopefully it’s the latter, but a lot of the former has happened in this franchise. Tune in tonight to see which one is right, and who makes it out of this episode in one piece!
