What’s happened so far

If not for the multiple disasters Will Halstead has been through on Chicago Med, Matthew Casey would have the worst season to date. The season premiere saw his wife Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) return to Chicago, only to tell him that she had been offered a permanent position in Puerto Rico and she was moving there for good.

But just a few episodes later, Casey became the sidekick to investigative reporter Naomi Graham (new guest star Kate Villanova). Naomi asked for his help on more than one occasion to probe a trailer company who were moving faulty product from place to place, leaving plenty of victims in their wake.

Casey soon found himself in the middle of a conspiracy, acting as Naomi’s sounding board, expert witness and partner in crime. As if that wasn’t enough, she was sweet on Casey and kissed him. Though he said no initially he reconsidered—after revealing that he and Dawson had divorced off screen.

Telling Severide he “[couldn’t] stop thinking” about Naomi, Casey kissed her the next time and brought her back to his apartment for a night of passion. But instead of afterglow, he got the glow from a house fire. Somehow, probably through sinister means, Casey’s apartment was burning down with the two of them still in it!

And that’s where we’ll find Matthew Casey next month. He’s stuck in a life-threatening fire for the second time in three seasons.
