Chicago Med season 4 midseason report: Natalie Manning
What it means
Though Natalie is probably the most outspoken character on Chicago Med, it felt like she was a bit subdued this season, just because she’s spent so much time reacting to what’s going on with Will rather than getting to act on her own.
There’s still been a few minor disagreements—such as when Will got upset that Natalie wanted to skip the formal wedding ceremony since she’d already been married before, her thinking that Will didn’t want to marry her, and Natalie butting heads with Dr. Charles (which you can rewatch by playing the video below).
But compared to past seasons, Natalie’s been fairly quiet and her life has been pretty quiet. Of course, that’s all going to change when Chicago Med returns in January and she finally gets to put the pieces together. It was a little surprising that as smart as she is, she didn’t figure out more in the first half of the season.
Her relationship will continue to drive her story in the immediate future, because if you found out your fiance had been keeping a secret from you for weeks that ruined your wedding, you would be furious. Particularly if you’re Natalie Manning, who made it very clear last season that she doesn’t like when Will hides things from her.
The question is, is this better or worse than him kissing another woman while drunk? That didn’t put his life on the line and in this case he was trying to do something good, not just being stupid. But this went on for a lot longer, so Natalie will have to decide how angry she wants to be and for how long.
