Severide

Severide was spending more time working on the businessman’s boat, and he bonded with the man’s son Riley. Riley opened up to Severide, saying that his father was never around and that he didn’t remember his mom.

Dad wasn’t happy about Kelly talking to his son—and then suddenly he wasn’t happy with Severide’s work either and fired him. Apparently every time Jordan Belfi turns up on a One Chicago show, he has to play a jerk. This one’s only slightly better than his role on Chicago Justice.

The next fire call was to Riley’s house, though, leaving Severide in fear for the kid’s life. When the dad returned home and heard Severide’s name, he accused him of intentionally starting the blaze. Kelly found himself under interrogation from multiple detectives (off-screen).

It didn’t get any better for him when the OFI investigation revealed the fire was started by oily rags in the garage, which the detective was quick to suggest were Kelly’s. But Severide knew the truth: that Riley had set the fire, a suspicion that was confirmed when Riley came to the firehouse so he could confess.

Chicago Fire gave us a great psuedo-parent moment as Severide sat Riley down to have a serious talk with him about his behavior. Riley was reunited with his dad, who assured Kelly that his son would get counseling but didn’t even apologize for the false accusation. Is this the last that we’ll see of them?
