Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD ratings are in for the latest episodes. Here’s the Jan. 23 edition of the One Chicago Ratings Report.

With another week of the One Chicago season in the books, it’s time to take another look at the franchise’s TV ratings with the One Chicago Ratings Report.

The third week of new episodes in 2019 produced some surprising—and very awesome—results for the franchise, as Wednesday night competition was once again a little thin.

Starting off the evening, Chicago Med posted its best ratings in about three years (which, since the show has only been on the air for four seasons, means they’re some of the best numbers in series history).

A whopping 9.36 million people watched this week’s episode live, which was a gain of almost a million viewers over last Wednesday’s 8.52 million.

There are a lot of fun statistics that come with that number. That made Chicago Med the most-watched show on broadcast TV by nearly a million viewers; it was also one of only two programs that even passed the 7.5 million mark!

That shows you the discrepancy between programs on Wednesday night, while Med also picked up a point among adults 18-49 to reach a 1.3 share and also be second place in the demo.

Continuing down the schedule, Chicago Fire had 8.42 million live audience members. That’s a significant bump of its own over last week’s 8.01 mark, and if you were looking closely at the last sentence above, that made Fire the only other broadcast TV show to pass 7.5 million on Wednesday evening.

With a 1.2 share amongst the key demographic, the series also tied for third place in that category with ABC‘s sitcom Modern Family.

As for Chicago PD, it continued being just a step behind the two other One Chicago series. But that didn’t make it a bad week for the show, however, as its 7.22 million audience members was still a healthy number.

That was a very slight downturn from last week’s 7.23 million people tuning in live. The episode also pulled in a 1.1 share within the adults 18-49 group, which tied the show for sixth place with ABC’s other sitcom Schooled.

Overall, it was a strong week for the franchise as it swept the top three spots in total viewers, and helped push NBC to being the most-watched network this Wednesday.

But if you look at what it’s currently airing against, that’s not surprising. ABC is filling its night with sitcoms, and CBS has Celebrity Big Brother, SEAL Team and Criminal Minds, none of which are big ratings draws.

FOX’s reality show The Masked Singer is handing that network an easy win in the demo (its 2.3 share is way ahead of Chicago Med‘s 1.3), but at 7.10 million viewers, that series is still just a hair behind Chicago PD in total audience.

While the primary demographic is watching FOX, the bulk of TV viewers are tuned into NBC and One Chicago, and that’s a good sign for our series as talk turns to whether or not they’ll come back for next season.
