THE CODE will have a special premiere on Tuesday, April 9 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) before it moves into its regular Monday time period on April 15 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), after MAGNUM P.I. completes its season order. Chicago Med fan favorite Ato Essandoh stars in The Code, a new CBS drama. Find out when you can watch The Code series premiere.

Dr. Isidore Latham hasn’t been seen on Chicago Med for a while, but Ato Essandoh will be back on TV this spring with his new military drama, The Code.

The CBS series focuses on an elite group of Marine lawyers working in the Judge Advocate General Headquarters, who tackle problems both inside and outside of the courtroom.

It’s created by Craig Sweeny (who adapted Limitless for television) and Craig Turk, who served as the original showrunner on Dick Wolf‘s freshman drama FBI (also on CBS).

Now the network has revealed The Code premiere date. It will debut with a “special preview” airing on Tuesday, April 9 at 9 p.m., before it officially premieres on Monday, April 9 at the same time.

More from One Chicago Center

The show’s normal time slot will be Mondays at 9. It takes over from Magnum, P.I. once that series wraps up its first season.

If youv’e enjoyed Essandoh’s performance as Dr. Latham on Chicago Med, you’ll want to give his new series a look. He plays Major Trey Ferry in the series, part of a strong cast that also includes Luke Mitchell (Blindspot), Dana Delany (Body of Proof), and Phillipa Soo (a Tony Award nominee for Hamilton).

CBS is no stranger to military-themed shows; their longest-running series, NCIS, is about a team from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and is a spinoff from the legal drama JAG.

The fact that they’re giving The Code a preview showing is a good sign; it means they want to put this series in a better than usual spot. And with regular episodes airing on Mondays, people who want to see what Ato Essandoh is doing now can tune in without missing Chicago Med.

While audiences miss him playing Dr. Isidore Latham, Essandoh is an amazing actor who should’ve gotten an Emmy nomination for what he did during Chicago Med season 2. It’s wonderful that he’s getting more exposure, first in Altered Carbon for Netflix and now this series.

One Chicago fans should mark their calendars and tune in to The Code series premiere to support one of our favorite recurring players!
