Chicago Med season 4, episode 15 preview: We Hold These Truths
What should fans watch for in this week’s Chicago Med? Get ready for tonight’s episode with our Chicago Med season 4, episode 15 preview.
This week’s episode of Chicago Med is not part of the One Chicago crossover, but that doesn’t mean it won’t have something to offer fans.
Wednesday’s episode “We Hold These Truths” is excluded from the crossover event, which is sad but not out of line—remember that last season the show also was left out of the spring crossover that was between Chicago Fire and the 100th episode of Chicago PD.
Sometimes, Med just doesn’t fit into the picture, and perhaps it just feels more jarring this season because NBC has spent all season promoting all three shows together. (Even the promo spot for this week’s episode was combined with the crossover promo.)
So what is One Chicago’s medical drama going to do while its sister shows are joining forces for their big event?

Chicago Med is creating its own big event. The plot of this episode involves a truck that drives through one of the city’s street fairs, causing several injuries and possibly casualties.
(It makes one never want to go to a street fair in this city. Remember last year’s Chicago PD episode “The Thing About Heroes,” which also started with a street fair where a bomb went off?)
This will certainly keep all of the characters busy, but what’s more interesting is how it’s going to hold the audience’s attention.

Ideally, you don’t want to have viewers so excited for or focused on the crossover that they either aren’t paying attention to Chicago Med or forget this episode as soon as it’s over. At the same time, this general premise has a couple of quirks that need to be figured out, too. It should be big but it also has to be right.
Firstly, Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) is on the scene in this episode, as seen in the clip that you can watch above. When audiences last saw Maggie she was donating a kidney. So that would imply there has to be another time jump before this episode—she shouldn’t be up and about right after surgery, especially not in that kind of chaos! And if there is indeed a time jump, how much of one will it be? Will we see Maggie still recovering a little bit, or get an update on Sydney?
Plus, this episode is a little reminiscent of the second season’s “Extreme Measures” where there were emergencies during the Chicago Marathon. How will Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) be different in the field than Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) was? Will there be similarities?
There could be a very cool compare and contrast here, if Chicago Med wants to write it. If the point of this episode is just to create a huge setpiece it’s definitely going to do that—but there’s ways to make this installment even better, so watch and see if Chicago Med digs a little bit deeper.
